Teachers: Lorenz & Meli

Dancers with the irresistible teaching method of a smile and hyper dynamic, Lorenz and Meli have been taught by some of the very best Lindy Hop Dancers of Sweden, England and the United States of America. After teaching with various other partners and knowing each other since 2000, Lorenz choose Meli in 2008 to teach together, both national and international. They have been teaching and performing in Zurich and abroad, on stage and as well on TV. They are known for their precise and energetic teaching with an emphasis on great partner connection, improvisation and interpretation of the music. They will - for sure - pass over their great knowledge to you!

Lorenz started dancing at the age of 14, took classes in ballroom dances with a girl, he did not dare to say no to. He then continued with intensive training in Rock’n’Roll, Boogie Woogie (Crazy Shakers), Jazz Dance (Incognito), Tap, Argentine Tango and lately also Salsa. He visited Herraeng Dance Camp the first time in 1992, where the virus Lindy Hop caught him badly. Since then (1992!), Lorenz organizes and teaches classes and Workshops in Zurich as well as some major cities in Europe (Paris, Milano, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Gothenburg, Nancy, Herrang etc.) and overseas (among others at SwingCity Melbourne in 2004), from Beginners to Professionals, took part of Projects at the Opera and the Drama Theater Zurich, at Television and in the film business as Choreographer and Dancer. He also leads and organizes his own Show Dance Company “Hellzapoppin’ Disaster”. In summer 2001 he made the concept for a new kind of international Festival called “Swing City” and organized as well it in Zurich. Over 30 different Events happened within this festival, concerts, Dance Performances, Movies, public Crash Courses, Workshops, etc. The opening night attracted over 12'Â’000 people. After a successful start, this concept then started to tour the world and so far visited Stockholm in 2002, Harlem (New York) in 2003 and Melbourne 2004. Since 2002 Lorenz is also part of the organization of Herrang Dance Camp. Lorenz is also a well reknown DJ and MC for Swing Parties. Teaching all over Europe, from Kids, Amateurs to Professionals, he is very sought after since he will share more then just steps with his pupils. Polylingual and slightly crazy he will let you share his passion for Lindy Hop!

Melanie begann im Ballettsaal der Kindertanztheaterschule Vera Pastor in Zuerich als sie fuenf Jahre alt war zu tanzn. Der Tanz zog sich wie ein roter Faden durch alle Lebensjahre hindurch.

2003-04 absolvierte Melanie das Chorodanceprojekt an der Zuercher-Tanz-Theaterschule unter der Leitung von Frank Rutishauser und wurde anschliessend von der Choreographin Jacqueline Beck (LI) zu einem halbjaehrigen Privattraining nach Liechtenstein eingeladen, worauf ein Engagement in einem Stueck von ihr folgte.
2005-2007 verbrachte Melanie in Malmoe (Schweden). Der Stein kam sehr schnell ins Rollen und erlaubte es ihr mit folgenden Choreographen zu wirken: Lisa Torun, Malin Skoglund, Miguel Azuge, Claudine Ulrich und ist Mitgruenderin von SARDINE SAUVAGE.
Weiter machte Sie in dieser Zeit erste eigene kleinere Choreographien, die an vielen Festivals und kleinen Theatern aufgefuehrt werden konnten. 2006-2007 entwickelte Melanie ihr eigenes Stueck INTERN als Projektleiterin und Choreographin, welches durch den grossen Erfolgs mehrmals in Malmoe und in Winterthur (CH) aufgefuehrt wurde.

Neben den Arbeiten mit fremden und eigenen Choreographien unterrichtete Melanie an diversen Schulen modernen Tanz: Danscentrum Syd (Zentrum für professionellen Tanz: Profitraining), Heleneholm Gymnasium (Kuenstlerisches Gymnasium mit Hauptfach Tanz), Studion Nr1: Profi und Hobbyklassen, Dance & Artistik Akademi, Malmoe Dance City, Folkshoegskolan.

Lindyhop unterrichtete Melanie fix an der Folkshoegskolan und in Malmoe Dance City und seit August 2008 bei SwingProductions mit Lorenz in Zuerich.
